Folarin Falana (born October 27, 1990), known professionally as Falz, is a multi-talented Nigerian rapper, songwriter, actor, and lawyer. He began his career while he was in secondary school when he formed a group called The School Boys alongside his friend. Falz began his professional career as a musician in 2009 and has risen to become one of the most prominent superstars in Nigeria.
After releasing the song “Marry Me,” which featured Poe and Yemi Alade on vocals, Falz gained more popularity. Currently, he is the owner of Bahd Guys Records, a small independent record company.
In 2014 he released his debut album Wazup Guy and 2015, he released Stories That Touch, his second sophomore album. He released 27 in 2017 and Moral Instruction, his fourth studio album, in 2019.
Early Life and Education
Falz was born to attorneys and human rights advocates Funmi and Femi Falana in Mushin, local government are, Lagos State.
After earning his degree from the Nigeria Law School in Abuja, he was called to the bar in 2012. Falz finished his elementary and senior education at Olashore International School in Osun State and St. Leo’s Catholic Primary School in Ikeja, respectively.
He holds an LLB honors degree in law and is a graduate of the University of Reading in England.
Falz got his start in music as a hobby in high school. Together with a buddy, he founded “The School Boys,” a musical ensemble. Shakara: The Mixtape, a collection of some of his recordings, was released by him in 2009.
2011 saw Falz release the track “Wahz Up Guy,” followed by “High Class” and “Currency,” which helped him establish himself in the Nigerian music scene.
Falz’s debut studio album, Wazup Guy, was released on May 30, 2014. The album included productions from artists including Studio Magic, DJ Woske, Tin Tin, Spellz, among others.
Falz made a comeback on January 31, 2015, with the release of “Ello Bae,” an official song. Actually, Wazzup Guy was his first solo effort following its publication, and it garnered him a number of honors.

In March 2022, Falz and Buju (BNXN) released “Ice Cream,” their first official single for the year. Additionally, he purchased a van with a ticketing counter embossed with Falz Ice Cream, which he uses to spread love by dispensing free ice cream throughout the cities of Lagos.
